We teamed up with Geneva to tap a few of our favorite community builders like Priscilla Agyeman of Saddie Baddies, Shyne Webster of Designed by Shyne, and Skylar Saba of Happy Earth Habits for insights and anecdotes about what has helped them launch, grow, and sustain a thriving creator community. Here’s what they had to say!
Q: HOW DID YOU TURN YOUR SEED OF AN IDEA INTO ACTION?
“I created an IG page first as the “foundation” and then the branches of SB grew from there which are our additional social connections such as: our podcast, website, newsletter, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and of course our home on Geneva. Our Norby seamlessly houses all of these spaces and more in one which I truly love.” – Priscilla Agyeman, Founder of Saddie Baddies
Q: WHEN DID YOU REALIZE THAT YOUR COMMUNITY/BRAND WAS PICKING UP MOMENTUM AND HAD LARGER POTENTIAL? HOW ARE YOU SCALING YOUR COMMUNITY & BIZ?
“I realized my brand was picking up in April 2020, when I had just launched my second clothing collection & the entire drop sold out in less than 30 minutes...because I’ve seen how much my community cares about the spaces I’ve cultivated, I’m continuing to grow my biz into a creative studio that’s rooted in collaboration and passion, and I’m actually planning some bigger initiatives this summer like events & other ways to make the sun spot its own baby brand!” – Shyne Webster, Founder/brand strategist of Designed by Shyne
Q: WHAT ARE SOME RESOURCES (LINKS, TOOLS, INTERVIEWS, ETC.) THAT HAVE HELPED YOU BUILD AND SUSTAIN YOUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT?
“I really think it’s important to invest in yourself. I have a business strategy coach that I work with and go to therapy which really helps to keep me steady as a leader, boss, partner, friend & sister/daughter! [To keep my community engaged] I designed stickers (and ordered from StickerApp.com). We love using Canva to create monthly vibe content & I have been learning a lot from Social Bungalow on IG about selling to your community as well.” – Skyler Saba, Founder of Happy Earth Habits
PRO TIP: You can also use easy, ready-to-design stickers from Canva to create cute and scalable promotional goodies.
